Many young people aging out of foster care struggle to achieve economic self-sufficiency during their transition to adulthood.1 However, these young people are also a heterogeneous population, and becoming economically self-sufficient can be more of challenge for some compared with others.2 Although prior research has looked at racial and ethnic differences in the self-sufficiency of young people who have aged out, differences related to sexual orientation have not been examined.3,4
